Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements
Minimum points score for entry is at least 240 points. 
- Students should normally offer at least one 4 or 6-unit award and at least two 3-unit awards, one of which must be Chemistry or Combined Science. 
- All candidates must have a pass in GCSE Mathematics at grade C or equivalent. 
- We welcome applications from candidates with Edexcel/BTEC or non-standard qualifications. 
- We consider all applications individually

Curriculum

Practical skills are developed throughout the course and you will get hands on experience of a wide range of experimental techniques and instrumentation. You may select to spend the third year in industry or you can choose to go directly into the final year. The final year includes advanced topics in chemistry and forensic science as well as a research project which may be in any area of chemistry or forensic science.

- General Introduction to Physical Chemistry 
- Introduction to Analytical Science and Spectroscopy 
- Practical Forensic Science 
- Data Handling and Computing for Forensic Science 

Year 2 
- Synthesis and Stereochemistry of Organic Molecules 
- Spectroscopy, Chromatography and Instrumental Analysis 
- Co-ordination Chemistry and Chemistry of Solids 
- Electrochemistry and Phase Equilibria 
- Practical Forensic Science 
- Crime Scene Investigation 

Year 3 sandwich 
Optional, but strongly recommended, 48 weeksupervised work experience. 

Year 3 full-time/Year 4 sandwich
