Curriculum

Early Childhood with Psychology prepares you to be a thoughtful and flexible early-years practitioner, working with and for children and families.

You’ll learn how children develop from conception onwards, how they experience life, and the factors that influence their childhoods.

You’ll explore the significance of early childhood across cultures and societies – something that is given extra resonance by the diversity that exists in east London and among the University of East London's student and staff population.

Modules explore ways of understanding children and childhood from a range of academic and professional perspectives. We also consider the philosophies, beliefs and attitudes that underpin those perspectives.

You’ll have the opportunity to study such intriguing modules as Children Culture and Globalisation, Applied Child Psychology and Social Policy for Children and Families.

This course has a particular focus on cognitive and developmental psychology. Applied psychology encourages you to link your learning to ways of working with children and families.
