Curriculum

From day one, you’ll develop the theoretical and practical skills needed to succeed as an accountant or finance professional. An interest in news and current affairs will be an asset as you’ll examine and debate current financial issues in light of what you learn.

Throughout the course you’ll learn about financial and management accounting and the business and regulatory environment in which businesses operate. You’ll also learn about financial management and the role of the financial markets and key financial institutions.

A major part of the course involves developing relevant practical skills to prepare you for employment. For example, you’ll learn how to:

Manipulate, analyse and interpret financial and non-financial data.

  • Prepare financial reports.
  • Apply accounting principles and techniques to a range of business problems.
  • Use industry-standard software.

You’ll also learn how to appraise evidence, present and communicate clearly, work in a team and conduct independent research when required, such as when preparing a final-year project on a topic of your choice.
