Entry Requirements

  • 3 x A-levels with grades of BBC or above
  • 2 x A-levels with grades AB and 1 x AS-Level grade A
  • BTEC Extended Diploma (QCF) with grade DMM
  • 1 x BTEC Diploma (QCF) with grade DM and 1 x BTEC Subsidiary Diploma (QCF) with grade M
  • 1 x BTEC Diploma (QCF) with grade DM and 1 x A-level with grade of C
  • CACHE Diploma at grade B
  • Access Diploma with a minimum of 30 level 3 credits at merit or above

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing, and no individual score lower than 5.5
  • OR Trinty College London Integrated Skills in English pass at ISEIII or above.

Curriculum

Level 1

All Psychology students (single and combined honours) will study a 60 credit, year-long course called Foundations of Psychology, plus a 60 credit course from another subject. The Psychology course consists of a broad introduction to basic and applied topics of Psychology and Research Methods.

Level 2

All Psychology (single and joint honours) study the core topics that the British Psychological Society (BPS) considers as fundamental for a Psychology degree. The core topics include Biological, Cognitive and Social Psychology as well as Research Methods & Statistics. In addition, single honours students will have the opportunity to choose optional elements in accordance with their interests and career plans. Students can choose two out of three optional courses per semester. Options include topics such as Evolutionary Psychology, Health and Clinical Psychology, Applied Psychology, Perception and Action, Psychopathology and Current Issues in Psychological Research.

Level 3

All students will continue with the study of the core topics as defined by the BPS. This includes Developmental Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences and a major Empirical Research Project carried out under supervision. The research project leads to the Dissertation. In addition, single honours students will have again the opportunity to choose Optional Courses in accordance with their interests and career plans.

The options cover a variety of different areas in basic and applied research such as Cognitive Neuroscience, Learning, Expertise and Talent, Psychology of Peace and Conflict, Psychology of Religion, Work Psychology, Psychology and Education, Applied Issues in Sport Psychology and Social Issues in Sport Psychology.
