This program's teaching staff once included renowned academics like Lin Yutang and Lu Xun. China's Ministry of Education has bestowed upon it the distinction of serving as the "National Talents Training and Research Base for Fundamental Studies in Humanities" and the supplier of "National Quality Courses." It has developed into the leader in the delivery of instruction in the subjects of literature studies and Chinese linguistics. Chinese linguistics, classical and modern Chinese literature, philosophy, and history studies are among the subjects that the Master of Chinese Studies program at Xiamen University Malaysia seeks to foster in its students. The students will receive instruction in academic writing and research techniques. Students will graduate with a particular level of research skills that will be enough for their future academic endeavours. Entry Requirements
Any of these:
- A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or equivalent, as accepted by the University Senate
- A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 and not meeting a CGPA of 3.00 can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment
- A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75 can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years' working experience in the relevant field and rigorous internal assessment
Candidates without a qualification in the related fields or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the department and meet the minimum CGPA based on (I) to (III);
Chinese Language Requirement:
- A credit in SPM or a Grade B6 in UEC or HSK Level 5 (minimum score of 210) or the equivalent.
English Language Requirement:
- International applicants must achieve a minimum of Band 3.5 in MUET OR IELTS 5.0 OR the equivalent to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR, High B1.
