Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Risk Management

Risk is an uncertainty or potential threat to an organization, with the potential to significantly impact its value and long-term sustainability. To safeguard their objectives and maintain stability, businesses must effectively identify, assess, and manage risks. The Risk Management Programme at UTAR is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of risk management principles for both financial and non-financial corporations. Its core curriculum covers analytical methodologies, operational management, legal frameworks, and strategic planning.

A key feature of the programme is its balanced approach, integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world case studies that reflect the dynamic nature of the business landscape. Additionally, it emphasizes practical applications and risk analytical techniques, ensuring that students develop both conceptual insights and hands-on expertise in managing risks effectively.

• STPM: Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 subjects + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• STAM: Minimum grade of Jayyid + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• A-Level: Grade D in any 2 subjects + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• UEC: Grade B in 5 subjects + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• SAM: ATAR 70 + Grade B in any 2 subjects + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• CPU: Average of 70% in 6 subjects + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• IB Diploma: Minimum 24 points (excluding bonus points) + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• TVET Diplomas (DKM / DVM / DLKM): Fully accredited by MQA + CGPA ≥ 2.50 (or CGPA 2.00 with 2 years of relevant work experience) + Pass admission screening & bridging programme if required + Credit transfer subject to policies.
• Foundation (UTAR): Minimum CGPA of 2.00 + Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent.
• Matriculation/Foundation (Other Institutions): Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
• Diploma (Level 4, MQF): Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
• Advanced Diploma (Level 5, MQF): Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
• Other Equivalent Qualifications: Recognised by the Malaysian Government.

English Language Requirement:

• Malaysian Applicants (STPM / UEC / qualifications not conducted fully in English): Must have one of the following: - Credit in SPM English - Grade C in O-Level English - Grade B in UEC English - MUET Band 3 - IELTS Band 5.0 - TOEFL 40 (iBT) / 7.5 (Essentials) - PTE 47 - Cambridge English 154 - OET 100 - ELS CIEP Level 107.

• Exceptions: Not applicable for A-Level/SAM/CPU or entry qualifications conducted fully in English, but must have a pass in SPM English / equivalent.

• Malaysian Applicants Who Do Not Meet the Above Requirements: Must take and pass the English Enhancement Programme (EEP) at Levels 7 & 8 before joining the degree programme.

• International Applicants: Must have one of the following: - IELTS Band 5.5 - MUET Band 3 - TOEFL 46 (iBT) / 8 (Essentials) - PTE 51 - Cambridge English 160 - OET 200 - ELS CIEP Level 108.

• Exceptions: Not applicable for entry qualifications conducted fully in English or students from countries where English is the official language, but must have a pass in SPM English / equivalent.

• Mathematics Requirement: Pass in SPM Mathematics / equivalent.

• Exceptions: Can be waived if qualifications include Mathematics with equivalent/higher achievement.

• Applicants Without a Pass in SPM Mathematics / Equivalent: Must take the Mathematics Enhancement Course (MEC) and pass it before proceeding with core courses.

• Applicants Without a Pass in SPM English / Equivalent: Must take an approved English Proficiency Test and meet the university's required scores before joining the degree programme.
