Bachelor of Arts (Hons) English Language

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) English Language programme at UTAR equips students with proficiency and competence in English, a crucial skill for success in law, business, commerce, politics, education, and mass media at both local and international levels.

This programme provides students with strong communicative abilities and a comprehensive understanding of the English language, enabling them to engage confidently in international and local platforms, including conferences, forums, and career-related activities such as training programmes, board meetings, interviews, and consultations.

With a focus on innovative 21st-century teaching techniques, students will participate in collaborative learning experiences, focused assessments, and real-world projects, laying a solid foundation for a successful and dynamic career in various professional fields.

• STPM: Grade C in any 2 subjects+Credit in English at SPM or equivalent** + IELTS 6.0 / MUET 4 / TOEFL 60(iBT) / TOEFL Essentials 8.5 / PTE 59 / Cambridge English 169 / OET 250 / ELS CIEP Level 109.
• STAM: Minimum Grade Jayyid+Same as above.
• A-Level: Grade D in any 2 subjects+Same as above.
• UEC: Grade B in 5 subjects+Same as above.
• SAM: ATAR 70 + Grade B in any 2 subjects+Same as above.
• CPU:Average 70% in any 6 subjects+Same as above.
• International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Minimum 24 points (excluding bonus points)+Same as above.
• Foundation from UTAR: Minimum CGPA 2.00+Same as above.
• Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions:Minimum CGPA 2.00+Same as above.
• Diploma (Level 4, MQF) or Equivalent: Minimum CGPA 2.00+Same as above
• Other Equivalent Qualifications Recognised by the Malaysian Government: Credit in English at SPM or equivalent**+Same as above.

• SPM English Credit Requirement: If a qualification is conducted fully in English, a pass in SPM English or equivalent is still required.

English Language Requirements for Bachelor's Degree Admission:

• Malaysian Applicants: - If STPM/UEC/other qualifications not conducted fully in English: Must have Credit in English at SPM level / Grade C in O-Level English / Grade B in UEC English / MUET Band 3 / IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 40(iBT) / TOEFL Essentials 7.5 / PTE 47 / Cambridge English 154 / OET 100 / ELS CIEP Level 107.
• - NOT applicable for A-Level / SAM / CPU / qualifications fully in English, but a pass in English at SPM level / equivalent is required.
• International Applicants: - Minimum IELTS 6.0 / MUET 4 / TOEFL 60(iBT) / TOEFL Essentials 8.5 / PTE 59 / Cambridge English 169 / OET 250 / ELS CIEP Level 109 / equivalent.
• - NOT applicable for entry qualifications fully in English or applicants from countries where English is the official language, but a pass in English at SPM level / equivalent is required.
