About
UCSI’s Foundation in Science (Engineering) programme provides a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), offering a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles. This integrated programme introduces engineering-specific subjects early, equipping students with the essential skills and knowledge to succeed in their future studies.
The curriculum incorporates diverse and innovative teaching methods, including laboratory work and industrial visits. Students benefit from mentorship by distinguished professors, adjunct faculty, and guest lecturers who are also industry leaders. Hands-on learning is enhanced through access to specialist, industry-standard facilities and laboratories in a dynamic academic environment. Assessments vary by course and typically include a balance of written exams (50%) and project-based coursework (50%), providing a well-rounded evaluation of student knowledge and practical skills.

Academic Requirements
Any one of these
- SPM / O-levels: 5 credits inclusive of Mathematics and 1 science subject
- UEC: 3 credits inclusive of Mathematics and 1 science subject
- Other qualifications deemed equivalent to SPM/O-Level by Malaysian Qualifications Agency: Overall average of 60% inclusive of Mathematics and 1 science subjects
- Other qualifications deemed equivalent to STPM/A-Level by Malaysian Qualifications Agency: Overall average of 50% inclusive of Mathematics and 1 science subjects
English Requirement for Foundation in Science
Candidates are exempted from SE004 Basic English and SE005 English Foundation if they meet any of the following English language proficiency standards:
- UEC English Language: Minimum Grade A2
- MUET: Minimum Band 2
- TOEFL: Score 30-31
- IELTS: Minimum 4.0
- O-Level/IGCSE/SPM English 1119: Minimum Grade C
- CEFR: Minimum Grade B1 (with at least 2 skills at B1)
- Cambridge English Qualification: Minimum 140
- Cambridge Linguaskill: Minimum 140
- Pearson Test of English (PTE): Minimum 36
Candidates who scored lower than B+ in SPM English Language or than the above requirement will have to take the SE004 Basic English subject before taking the SE005 English Foundation subject in the foundation year.
