In celebration of International Women’s Day and as part of its ongoing commitment to recognising women, Sunway University has launched a unique initiative to showcase some of Malaysia’s most prominent women leaders and academics who are driving meaningful change in education, medical sciences, planetary health, and sustainability. Through their dedication and leadership, these key figures continue to shape policies, advance scientific discoveries, and inspire future generations.
In a first of its kind marketing campaign, Sunway University has decided to showcase over 10 of these inspirational gamechangers across the platforms of both online and offline media portals and do not be surprised if you see these remarkable trailblazers on Out of Home digital screens across Klang Valley on March 8, International Women’s Day.
Celebrating Women Leaders in Education and Research
At the forefront of planetary health and sustainability, Sunway University integrates environmental responsibility into its academic programmes, research initiatives, and campus operations. At the helm of the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, Executive Director Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood plays a key role in addressing critical environmental and health challenges
“The urgency of climate change and sustainability requires collective action, and we are proud to be an institution that empowers women to take charge in shaping a healthier, more sustainable future. Women play a pivotal role in advocating for planetary health, and together, we can drive real change,” said Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah.
Professor Kavita Reginald from the School of Medical and Life Sciences has made significant contributions to immunology and infectious disease research. Her work has been instrumental in enhancing healthcare solutions and improving medical outcomes in Malaysia and beyond.
“Women's contributions to medical sciences have never been more essential. From pioneering new treatments to advancing public health strategies, their impact is profound and far-reaching,” said Professor Kavita.
Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee, Group CEO of Sunway Education and UN-Women Leadership Award Winner added, “Education is a powerful tool for transformation, and women have a profound role in shaping knowledge, skills, and perspectives.
