Curriculum

You will learn how to bring imagination, investigation, experimentation and innovation to an overall theme of place making.

We offer an exciting range of modules from the innovative new MA Architecture and Urbanism course: Urban Design, Computational Architecture, Sustainable Architecture, Architecture and Heritage, Critical Writing and Landscape.

We will equip you with a range of theoretical and practical skills, including CAD, architectural design and building construction. You will work on projects that satisfy aesthetic and technical requirements and address the issues around sustainability.

On completing your MArch, we also offer you the chance to enrol on the thesis module and obtain an MA qualification in addition to your MArch. This allows you to extend your exploration of architectural themes you find particularly interesting.

Throughout the course your feet will be firmly on the ground. You will respond to real briefs set by real clients with real budgets, and you will submit planning applications and produce design documents.

Recently, students have worked with the London Borough of Newham to design a community café in Silvertown, east London, and a new 'speakers’ corner' in Croydon.

Students are also working on a sustainable timber house designed by up-and-coming architect Wilf Meynell, a former University of East London student and founder of the ground-breaking practice Studio Bark, which recently featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.
