About
Biotechnology applies advancements in biological sciences, particularly genetics, to improve food production, chemical synthesis, and medical treatments. It has led to innovations such as synthetic insulin, human growth hormone, and cancer therapies, while also enhancing food quality and sustainable industrial processes.
This programme prepares students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to meet industry demands. Key areas of study include proteomics, genomics, enzyme and protein biotechnology, immunology, fermentation technology, plant biotechnology, biosensors, bioinformatics, phytomedicine, and cell and tissue culture. Through hands-on learning and a final-year project, students gain specialized expertise, opening career opportunities in healthcare, agriculture, and environmental science.

Entry Requirements
- STPM / A-Level: Grade C / D in 2 subjects + Credit in Mathematics, 1 Science & 1 other subject (SPM/equivalent).
- STAM: Jayyid + Credit in Mathematics, 1 Science & 1 other subject (SPM/equivalent).
- UEC: Grade B in 5 subjects + Credit in Mathematics, 1 Science & 1 other subject (SPM/equivalent)
- SAM / CPU: ATAR 70 / 70% average in 6 subjects + Credit in Mathematics, 1 Science & 1 other subject (SPM/equivalent).
- IB Diploma: 24 points + Credit in Mathematics, 1 Science & 1 other subject (SPM/equivalent)
- Foundation (UTAR / Others): CGPA 2.00 + Credit in Mathematics, 1 Science & 1 other subject (SPM/equivalent).
- Diploma (Level 4, MQF): CGPA 2.00.
- Other Equivalent Qualifications: Recognised by the Malaysian Government.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT:
- Malaysian (STPM/UEC/other non-English qualifications): Credit in SPM English / O-Level Grade C / UEC Grade B / MUET Band 3 / IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 40(iBT) / 7.5 (Essentials) / PTE 47 / Cambridge English 154 / 100 (OET) / ELS CIEP Level 107.
- If not meeting the above: Must take and pass English Enhancement Programme (Levels 7 & 8) before joining the degree programme.
- International Applicants: IELTS 5.0 / MUET Band 3 / TOEFL 40(iBT) / 7.5 (Essentials) / PTE 47 / Cambridge English 154 / 100 (OET) / ELS CIEP Level 107.
