Curriculum

Subject 1: Story as Enterprise
The subject aims to develop the entrepreneurial skills to create and manage a screen project. Students will gain an understanding of the essential relationship between story and audience and the importance of collaborative skills in developing a project. They will learn about development paths and sources of support to help take a project to realisation.

Subject 2: Marketing for Audience Engagement
The subject aims to give students an awareness of audience engagement, the market and its importance in project development. Students will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge and use the appropriate marketing and distribution terminology to write a marketing plan.

Subject 3: The Role of the Producer
The subject aims to give students an understanding of the producer’s finance, documentation and management responsibilities. Students will learn the essential approaches to the development of a project; the types of finance that can be used and the documentation required to progress a project.

Subject 4: Producing in Practice
The subject aims to allow students to apply producing skills in a real world scenario. Students get the opportunity to develop their written and verbal communication skills and apply these in a range of contexts including pitching a project. They will develop their understanding of the relationships between the key elements that frame their project and practice articulating this in role playing and case studies.
